Banksy

The provocateur of the art world

Banksy, the foremost agent provocateur in the art world, sprang to fame as a street artist outside of his own Bristol. In the 1990s, Banksy gave up freehand painting in favor of the stencil because it was a quick and easy way to hide from the authorities and allowed him to swiftly establish himself as a key figure on the global street art scene.

Banksy Flower Bomber (Black/White Special Edition)

White Frame Included

One of Banksy's most famous stencils is Rage, the Flower Thrower, or Love is in the Air. It depicts a masked Palestinian throwing a floral arrangement.

Rage, the Flower Thrower, made his debut in Jerusalem in 2005. The man in the painting is wearing a scarf, a baseball cap, and was shooting the flowers at someone in a rage on the side of a garage on the highway from Beit Sahour opposite Citroen/Peugeot auto dealership.

Black and white are used to create the man and the flower wrapper. Color is used for the blooms and the stem projecting from the wrapping. The photo is reminiscent of images from 1960s riots on the streets and on college campuses. The man's rage and aggravation can be felt in his posture as he attempts to bomb the restaurant with flowers, much like a molotov cocktail.
